Winter Retreat

2024

January 12-15, 2024

Departure:

  • We need everybody to meet at Woodland Baptist Church by 3:45pm at the latest on Friday, January 12th. The buses and vans will be leaving the parking lot at 4:15pm. We will eat dinner as soon as we arrive, so don't worry about food beforehand.

  • If you need transportation to Woodland, the vans may be able to pickup you up at CRBC or the CRBC church office on the way.

Return:

What To Bring

A Bible, a Pen, and a Notebook - We are going to be in the Word a lot this week, so make sure you bring your Bible and something to write with and something to write IN! If you don’t have a Bible, talk to su!

Toiletries - Toothbrush, deodorant, shower products, etc.

Bedding - A sleeping bag will do, or you can bring sheets and a blanket for a twin mattress. Be sure to bring a pillow as well!

Extra Cash - Crowders Ridge has a snack shack and merchandise you can buy while we are there, so if you want any of those things, be sure to bring some extra cash.

Pack extra clothes - It’s January in North Carolina, so don’t pack for clear skies and sunshine. Expect some rain, and also expect to potentially get a bit messy in tribe wars. Either way, it’s always good to have some extra clothes packed.

Prescription Medicine - ALL prescribed medication needs to be turned in at Woodland Baptist Church to John or Katie before we leave for Crowders Ridge. Each individual person needs to have their specific meds in a ziplock bag with their name, dosage and usage written down for our medical team.

Warm Clothes - Remember this isn’t summer camp, so be sure to bring a hoodie!

Your Phone - You are allowed to have your phone at Winter Retreat. Feel free to take pictures and document your time at Winter Retreat. However, you won’t spend the whole time on them. If we feel like you are on your phone too much, we reserve the right to hold on to it until the end of the WR24.

Water Bottle - In order to ensure that you are ready to worship and get your tribe on, you MUST stay hydrated, so make sure that you bring a refillable water bottle. (There will be water coolers located throughout the camp to refill water bottles.)

Towels - Please make sure you bring a towel to dry off with after showers. We are only there for a weekend, so we do not have time for air drying!

A favorite part of Winter Retreat for us is Tribe Wars, ultimate competitions where the two tribes of Winter Retreat battle for supremacy. Part of the battle is making sure you are ready for it with what you are wearing, so be sure you bring some clothes to fit each night’s theme.

Super Hero/Villian Night - Come ready to save the day (or take over the world) as this theme is all about Super-Heros vs. Villians. So bring your capes, super suits, and masks as only ONE tribe will come on top, which will it be?

Senior Citizen Night - It’s TRIBE WARS, but with discounts and back pain... Come ready to dive deep into all of the benefits of being a senior citizen. Make SURE you dress the part!

Glow Night - Get ready to party and compete in our Glow Night at TRIBE WARS. Bring some glow sticks, neon paint. If it glows, it goes! This is the last night at Winter Retreat, so let’s make it epic!

Cost: $100 - Money due Wednesday night. Let me know if you won’t be there and need to get the money to us otherwise.

Currently there are over 120 students from Haywood County going, and it will be a great time for everyone.

Waiver Form

We do need to fill out the waiver form for Crowder’s Ridge. I apologize now, because it is out of my control, but it is a bit of a pain. You will need to create a parent account and then register your child.

When you are registering your child, it will ask about a group code. Use: 24orchard

Don’t pay for anything, and you don’t need to do anything marked as optional. There is contact information and 2 e-forms that need to be signed.

These are do Monday night. Please try to get these filled out today or tomorrow during the day. If you run into any problems, I will help walk you through them anytime Monday up until midnight. 😁 Call me at 828-400-2206 anytime Monday if you need help.
